Lauren Metlock Fellowship
Launched in 2024, the Lauren Metlock Memorial Fellowship honors founding member Lauren Metlock for her brave advocacy on behalf of loved ones incarcerated in Illinois prisons. As an unrelenting voice against inhumane prison conditions, Lauren actively participated in rallies, press conferences, community events, and media.
Each year, the Lauren Metlock Fellowship supports a young person who is directly impacted by incarceration in telling their story and then putting it into action, as Lauren always did.

Lauren’s daughter, Laureal, was the inaugural fellow, making significant contributions to our work. She continues to publicly share her personal story, guide our events, and offer powerful insights as someone impacted by her loved ones incarceration.

2026 Fellow
Devontae
As the 2026 Lauren Metlock Fellow, Devontae hopes to encourage people to understand that prisons do not bring about positive change, but negatively impact us all.
On June 26, 2026, Devontae hosted an art showcase, featuring original works and raising legal funds for his father, who is currently incarcerated.
